Concept Brand & ESG Report Prototype Developed to Demonstrate Sustainability Reporting Capability

Role: Brand & ESG Report Designer (Self-Initiated Project)
Scope: Brand Identity System + 2023 ESG Report Prototype
Audience (Simulated): Sustainability stakeholders and conscious consumers

The Problem

At the time, I was actively pursuing sustainability reporting work but lacked a dedicated ESG report example in my portfolio.

While I had experience designing government reports (National Park Service, Colorado Parks & Wildlife), I wanted to demonstrate:

  • Stronger brand integration within sustainability communications
  • Advanced layout and infographic systems
  • Corporate-style ESG reporting capabilities

Objective

  • Create a professional-grade ESG report prototype
  • Demonstrate fluency in sustainability metrics and reporting structure
  • Showcase refined typography, hierarchy, and data visualization skills
  • Position myself competitively for corporate sustainability report work

Constraints

Self-Initiated Project: No real client or stakeholder feedback. Required establishing realistic ESG reporting standards independently.

Industry Alignment: Needed to reflect real-world ESG reporting frameworks and tone. Avoid appearing purely conceptual or aesthetic.

Time & Scope: Built alongside full-time professional work. Required balancing polish with efficiency.

Strategy

  • Developed a fictional sustainable mobility brand (Jeda Electric Bikes) to ground the project in a realistic sustainability context
  • Studied leading corporate ESG reports to understand structure, disclosures, and hierarchy
  • Reinterpreted real-world sustainability reporting content through Jeda’s brand system
  • Focused on clean data visualization, restrained color systems, and corporate-level clarity
  • The goal was to simulate the depth and rigor of a real ESG reporting engagement.

Solution

Brand Identity:

  • Designed logo, color palette, and typographic hierarchy
  • Established visual language aligned with modern sustainable mobility

ESG Report Prototype:

  • Created full ESG-style report structure
  • Designed data-driven layouts and infographic systems
  • Integrated sustainability metrics into clean, readable spreads
  • Balanced brand expression with corporate credibility

The Report redesign

Impact

  • Provided a strong ESG reporting example that demonstrated capability beyond government reports
  • Showcased ability to translate sustainability data into structured, professional reporting systems
  • This project bridged the gap between public sector reporting experience and corporate ESG communications work.
